About Us

The Devitt Union is housed in an historic building as you enter Uptown Waterloo. This 150 year old building has had many lives over the years. Jennifer and Kyle gave it new life once again when they purchased and renovated it for their two businesses in 2011. Jennifer has a glass fusion studio along with unique, affordable and stylish gifts and home decor. Kyle's massage therapy clinic is in the upstairs of the building. They share the checkout. They're good at sharing. If you come on the right day you can find one of their kids helping out with this local, family business. The genesis of TDU's name came from doing some research of our local history. For 80 years there used to stand at the corner of Erb and King, a building known as The Devitt Block, owned by 2 time former Mayor of Waterloo, Benjamin Devitt. This building houses such businesses as Equitable Life Insurance, The Princess Theatre, and The Waterloo Chronicle.
